Young Voices support Kenya’s successful new constitution

Kenya’s new constitution, which was widely celebrated in the international media, covers the full inclusion of people with disabilities at every level of governance. This includes a clause in the Bill of Rights that protects and promotes the rights of disabled people. The constitution has been written after years of work to formally recognise the rights of people with disabilities in Kenya and the Leonard Cheshire Disability Young Voices project has been among many advocates who have worked for this victory. Its members held a press conference in support of the proposed new constitution in September to help ensure that the new promises are translated into effective policies and programmes.
