Young Voices meet international award winner

Young Voices members from the Philippines took part in a discussion session with Mr Noman Khan, a pioneer in running mainstreaming and other projects for people with disabilities in his home country of Bangladesh. Visiting the Philippines to collect the Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asia’s equivalent of a Nobel Prize) for his work, Mr Khan took questions from the Young Voices members and non-disabled young people about discrimination in public transport and the fact that Filipino athletes with disabilities do not receive the same amount of government support as non-disabled athletes. The event was held in a Starbucks café, and now the Starbucks manager has decided to start a programme that will lead to the employment of people with disabilities.
