Young Voices needs you!

Hi, I’m Myra Faye Fonte of LCDPFI-YV-Cavite. As this year ends, I want to be thankful for one thing: for learning about YV and knowing such friends who are empowered to promote our rights and help each other to develop skills that can help us for a lifetime. Thank you for making me look at the world in a whole new perspective─ that young people like us have voices which can help change the way people think about us─ voices that are powerful enough to make people not only have awareness but literally do something about it. Thank you for making me realize that we can make a difference in our little corner in the world─ just where we are. People, just seeing us meeting together, are becoming more aware of us and what we can do. Personally, our chapter meetings did make me aware that there’s something only a young PWD can do. That’s letting all people hear us speaking up for our fellows who can’t speak for themselves yet. That’s letting them see that we, young PWD’s, are doing something purposeful. That way, they too can look in a much bigger scale and do something for a change.
I think impact is the difference. Seeing PWD’s making the first move to make this world a better place is a different story. People are just amazed that we ourselves are doing something to help others.
This coming new year, I wish for strength for us all─ physical and inner strength, strength to change a life, strength to make people laugh and cry all at the same time, strength to overcome problems and move mountains, and strength to face tomorrow with confidence.
